PRACTICE YOUR GOLF SHOTS
from:The old saying that - The more the practice the better you become - is certainly the case with golf.
Most ladies go out to the course and play round after round but never practice in-between.
Practice should be divided up into particular sessions when you go to improve on a particular part of your game. It will not be very practical to practice each day, but the more you focus on those parts of your game which need improvement, the sooner they will become one of the better parts of your round.
Take enough practice balls to ensure that you do not have to keep walking to the far end of the practice ground before you have had a chance to make at least 15-20 shots.
Your practice balls will usually be old or found balls which you should keep specifically for practice – it wont matter if you loose them.
It you are practicing putting have a particular goal in mind. Are you going to concentrate on short or long puts? Are you trying to become more aware of speed or line or both? Make sure you set your goal before you start.
It you are practicing your iron shots, make a target. An umberlla opened in stuck upside down in the ground is a good target. Try to land your ball as close as you can to the target, this keeps practice interesting and gives you a market for distance.
Pace out the steps from the target to where you will be hitting from and try using a variety of different clubs and swings to land close to the umbrella. Make a note of how different clubs react. This is a great way to help you judge how hard of sortly you need to hit the ball.
Placing the target quite close to you is a way to force you to hit short gently shots, and another way of increasing your ‘feel’ for the club.
For your longer clubs, woods etc., targets should obviously be larger areas. Control over the direction of the ball is what you are looking for when you use these clubs rather than precise control of length.
