Womens World Cup of Golf 2008
January 21st, 2008    Subscribe To Our FeedThe Phillipines in the shape of Jennifer Rosales and Dorethy Delasin, have won the Womens World Cup of Golf played over three rounds at the spectacular Sun City in South Africa. This is the third time the pair have played the event.

The pair won with a 3 round finishing total of 18 under par, 2 strokes ahead and beating Korean Ji-Yai Shin and Eun-Hee Ji who finished on 16 under par.
Delasin said “This is a very big day for the Philippines and for golf in the country” and added “This win is for all Filipinos around the world.”
Rosales, who has been recovering from injury during this last year said “It was a real team effort, the win hasn’t really sunk in at the moment.”
Coming into the final round Korea and Philippines were tied at 11 under par.
Philippines got off to the better start when they birdied the first hole, but this was overtaken at the 5th hole when Shin holed out from a bunker for and eagle and Philippines made bogey.
The Philippines went into the back nine one shot behind, but Delasin explained “We were kind of shaky on the front nine, but we got our groove on the back nine, we said to ourselves win or lose we are going to have fun.”
They certainly did have fun and ripped through the back nine in 6 under-par 30, with Delasin birding each of the last four holes.
The pair netted us$280,000 first prize and believe that this win will give them a great confidence boost ahead of the main 2008 season.
