Louise Frieberg wins the 2008 MasterCard Classic Honoring Alejo Peralta Presented by Nextel at the Bosque Real Country Club Huixquilucan, Mexico.

Friberg becomes a Rolex First-Time Winner, set a tournament record and tied her careet lowest score with a final round of 7 under par 65. She had started the round in a tie for 33nd place and carded am almost perfect round consisting of 6 birdies, 1 eagle and a bogey to win by one shot from Yani Tseng.

“I wasn’t expecting to win at 6-under. I thought my last putt on 18 would make me finish second,” said Friberg, who became the first rookie to win an LPGA Tour event since Julieta Granada won the 2006 ADT Championship. “So I was waiting around, didn’t really know what to do in the meantime. A lot of things went through my mind, but to be honest, I don’t remember what. I don’t know if I was hungry, thirsty, what. I was just waiting.”

Friberg, becomes top rookie in 2008. Her victory at the MasterCard Classic Honoring Alejo Peralta Presented by Nextel was the first of her LPGA career and, in addition to her $195,000 winner’s check, she earned a Rolex watch as the season’s inaugural Rolex First-Time Winner.
